Try CranioSacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on manual therapy that releases tensions and restrictions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve overall health.

Using an even lighter touch than lymphatic drainage, we work with the craniosacral system - the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid around the brain and spinal cord.

Craniosacral therapy can be done on its own, combined with somatic therapy, or blended with other types of bodywork. Neurolymphatic drainage is done with a combination of craniosacral and lymphatic drainage techniques.

What happens in craniosacral session

Before the session starts, we’ll check in about how you’re feeling and your hope for the session. We’ll also talk about which techniques and positions will work best for the day’s work.

You can remain fully dressed, and will usually be lying on your back for the full session.

Gentle touch will be used to listen to your body’s rhythms and to release restrictions at different parts of your body. The head, neck, ribs, tailbone, and feet receive direct touch in most sessions, though we can always adjust based on your comfort.

You are always in control during a session, and your input is always welcomed. If you notice anything, good or bad, you’re encouraged to let me know.

What craniosacral therapy feels like

Craniosacral therapy is supposed to feel comfortable and deeply relaxing. It’s never supposed to be painful.

Some people feel nothing at all during the session, and may even wonder if anything is happening. Other people will feel various sensations in different parts of the body, including tingling, pressure, stretching, decreased tension, or energy movement. Sometimes people will feel emotions or old memories coming up. I’m always happy to hear what people are noticing.

Following a session, you may feel rested or more energetic. Some people feel sore the next day, as if they’d had a hard workout. Everyone responds a bit differently - try it yourself to see what craniosacral therapy does for your body.
