Fat Acceptance Coaching

I offer somatic coaching for fat acceptance to help you get fat positivity and body neutrality from your brain to your gut.

We use a somatic perspective to work with the body’s sensations and experiences to make change deeper than our conscious thoughts.

Using mindfulness, somatic experiencing techniques, cognitive learning, and rebuilding associations, we work to get you free of the unconscious beliefs about fat that are holding you back.

Anyone who wants to build a better relationship with their body, or better support the people in their life can benefit.

All bodies are good.

All bodies are enough.

All bodies are worthy of care.

All bodies deserve full access to the world.

From the time we’re born, we’re told the opposite - that no matter what our body looks like, we should probably be smaller, more attractive, and fitting even more closely to an impossible standard of perfection. These messages are everywhere, and get programmed into us without our choosing to believe them.

Fat acceptance coaching is for people who want to embrace their body as it is right now

You never asked to believe thinner is better, and you know that bodies of all sizes can be good bodies - but sometimes it’s hard to believe that.

We use an individualized combination of strategies drawing on

  • Somatic Experiencing

  • Polyvagal theory

  • Principles of neuro-rehabilitation

  • Implicit bias research

  • my experience as an occupational therapist

to help you break free of the anti-fat bias you never wanted, so you have the power to live your life on your own terms.

Coaching isn’t therapy, and therapy isn’t coaching - Healing trauma and managing mental illness is more appropriate for somatic therapy or psychotherapy.

In coaching you get the support and guidance you need to help yourself. You’ll have

  • an accountability partner

  • someone to challenge you to ask the big questions

  • enthusiastic encouragement throughout your growth.

How fat acceptance coaching works:

  • Identify how anti-fat bias shows up around you, and how it shows up in your own nervous system.

  • Discover the racist, classist, ableist, and eugenicist roots of anti-fatness in the US.

  • Train yourself in new ways of talking and thinking about fat

  • Reprogram your nervous system with different patterns and responses, so you expand your resilience

Logistics and Details

Monthly coaching packages are available at different levels of intensity.

Real change takes time, so a three month commitment is recommended to start.

All packages include:

  • 60 minute individual online sessions

  • Text and voice messaging support

  • Recorded classes

  • Recorded guided meditations and somatic exercises

  • Recommendations between sessions such as journaling prompts, recommended reading, research tasks, and/or meditations

Basic Package - $350 monthly

Includes two individual sessions per month

Intensive Package - $700 monthly

Includes four individual sessions per month

VIP Package - $1,000 monthly

Four individual sessions per month

Two phone calls per month
